 MY THOUGHTS AND BOOK REVIEW

Wow, stunning plotline and my second book of Ellery Kane that I have read. I was totally engrossed by this absolutely gripping psychological thriller story by Kane with lots of suspense in every chapter. The novel begins with Theo Copeland, a stay at home  dad to his daughter Abby, a lead singer and guitarist and his corporate lawyer wife Cassandra being questioned by the San Francisco police at their home for a homicide committed in their own building they leased out on 865 church street. A homeless man discovers a dead body of a girl bludgeoned to death in the dumpster behind Theo's studio. Theo and Cassandra are left horrified with the incident. The detectives gather at the spot questioning the tenants. The girl who was murdered was Elise, the Hamilton's Nanny. Meanwhile, Theo Copeland gets arrested for assaulting his neighbor Shaun De Marco in his front yard, punching him in the face and destroying a drone he possessed. Theo is accused for having an affair with Elise Sterling and texting her from his phone before she was found dead. The detectives portray Theo to be a dangerous man even though he had no prior criminal record.

Will Cassandra Copeland as an attorney representing her husband Mr Theo for this murder case will be able to prove his innocence? I thoroughly enjoyed the court room scenes with Judge Macy.

I just reviewed the Psychological thriller novel, The Good Wife by Ellery Kane. Thanks to Bookouture  Publishers and Netgalley for an advance copy for my honest review.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

My husband has been accused of something terrible. But what I’m about to do is much worse…

I’m sick to my stomach when I hear about the young woman found dead outside my husband’s music studio the night of our wedding anniversary. She and Theo were close, so when the police knock on the door as our daughter sleeps peacefully upstairs, I think they’re just trying to rule him out. But then I see the panicked look in his eyes…

“That’s not possible. I just saw her—”. I watch my perfect husband freeze. Just moments earlier, he had told the cops he hadn’t seen her. Why is he changing his story?

Most women would leave him—take their child and run for the hills. But I won’t. Theo and I have been together a long time. I know his secrets. And he knows mine… well, most of them. I’m the best lawyer in this town and I’m his only chance. I will defend him, whatever the cost.

As the police begin to pick apart our relationship, they don’t paint a pretty picture, and even some of our so-called friends begin to tell stories. My whole life has been a lie.

Can I really trust the man I love?

And when push comes to shove, can he trust me?

MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW After Pearl is a captivating historical mystery set in 1942, during the turbulent months following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The novel follows Nicholas Bishop, an alcoholic private investigator and shell-shocked WWI veteran, who wakes up in a seedy hotel room with a hangover, a foggy memory, and two bullets missing from his revolver. Worse still, lounge singer Pearl DuGaye is dead, and Bishop is the prime suspect. As he stumbles through a haze of forgotten days, Bishop—assisted by the sharp and capable Gia Alessi, a loyal sidekick who may or may not still be on his payroll—dives into a web of deceit and danger. His investigation leads him through Buffalo’s underworld, rubbing shoulders with crooked politicians, high-society elites, and an underground group of American Nazis. All the while, he’s haunted by flashbacks from the Great War and shadowed by a one-eyed dog named Jake. The pacing is tight and energetic. The mystery unfolds gradually but never drag...
