Book Tour #Book Review #Covert in Cairo: A BRAND NEW cozy murder mystery from Kelly Oliver for 2023 (A Fiona Figg & Kitty Lane Mystery Book 2)#Publisher ‏ : ‎ Boldwood Books #Women's Adventure Fiction

MY THOUGHTS AND BOOK REVIEW

Both Fiona and Miss Kitty Lane are employed by British intelligence. They have been sent on a mission to defend the Suez Canal from any evil schemes that Fredrick Fredricks may be hatching. German spy Frederick Fredericks is well-known for being a jerk. This book features a fugitive murderer, a kidnapping, suspects, a horrible crime, spy, fashion, adventure, and murder investigation. My interest in identifying the criminal was piqued by the novel's missing agent, Dankworth, and the murder of Monsieur Jean Baptiste Lorraine, the archaeologist.  Agent Dankworth and Jean Baptiste were collaborating to infiltrate an illicit antiquities network.

The connections between the many incidents give this mystery a fantastic narrative.

A nice, interesting, and enjoyable book for fans of mysteries. I adored the characters and the exciting plot. There are numerous events that are referenced in and around Cairo, the capital of Egypt. I appreciate receiving a free copy from Partners in Crime Virtual Tours and Boldwood Publishers in exchange for my honest review.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

1917 Cairo.

Ancient mummies aren’t the only bodies buried in the tombs of Cairo.

The notorious Fredrick Fredricks has lured Fiona to Egypt with a cryptic threat on the Suez Canal.

But when a cheeky French archeologist is murdered, and an undercover British agent goes missing, the threat moves closer to home.

Is the notorious Fredrick Fredricks behind the murders? Or is the plot even more sinister?

Competing excavators, jealous husbands, secret lovers, and belligerent spies are the leading suspects.

As they dig deeper, soon Fiona and Kitty are up to their donkeys in dead bodies.

If they can’t unwind the clues and catch the killer, they might end up sharing a sarcophagus with Nefertiti.

With humor as dry as the Arabian desert, and pacing as fast as a spitting camel, Fiona and Kitty are back in another sparkling adventure, this time in WW1 Egypt.

BOOK ON TOUR #AFTER PEARL #HISTORICAL CRIME FICTION #SANTA FE WRITERS PROJECT PUBLISHERS #BOOK REVIEW #STEPHEN G EOANNOU

MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW After Pearl is a captivating historical mystery set in 1942, during the turbulent months following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The novel follows Nicholas Bishop, an alcoholic private investigator and shell-shocked WWI veteran, who wakes up in a seedy hotel room with a hangover, a foggy memory, and two bullets missing from his revolver. Worse still, lounge singer Pearl DuGaye is dead, and Bishop is the prime suspect. As he stumbles through a haze of forgotten days, Bishop—assisted by the sharp and capable Gia Alessi, a loyal sidekick who may or may not still be on his payroll—dives into a web of deceit and danger. His investigation leads him through Buffalo’s underworld, rubbing shoulders with crooked politicians, high-society elites, and an underground group of American Nazis. All the while, he’s haunted by flashbacks from the Great War and shadowed by a one-eyed dog named Jake. The pacing is tight and energetic. The mystery unfolds gradually but never drag...
