 MY THOUGHTS AND BOOK REVIEW

This memoir is about reflecting back on Mrs. Johnson's, a middle-aged woman at forty-nine, her wedding day and her marriage to Big Johnson. The author stores up memories and talks about her experience in her humor filled memoir. she has been trying to figure out since childhood how relationships work, how families get together and stay together which happened to be a mystery to her. Love is something beyond the excitement of romance and being in love. This took more than forty years for Lisa to realize as when she is preparing to get married to her boyfriend Big Johnson who was previously married twice before her. It is a committed, thoughtful decision. Love is nurturing and love is listening. Love is caring and Love is Kind. From where Lisa is coming from in her family in Mum's and Dad's side of parent's commitment wasn't in their genes. Nothing lasted more than six months. Either they would run, or they would ask her to marry them and she would run. Lisa was born in Oakland California to parents who divorced after eight years. Love lightens burdens because you divide them, and love intensifies joy because you share it. Lisa' s wedding for 15 years to Big Johnson proves that they have pledged to each other not only their love but also strength, warmth and most importantly the fun of true friendship. It is good to see how Lisa has brought her story of confusion and judgment and teenage years that followed with abuse and neglect, anger where yet being in marriage by taking important step she took in her life to be in union with her friend Big Johnson in marriage that was finally founded upon mutual respect and affection.

I liked the memoir as my favorite part was that there was no drag as the titles contributed short chapters that was easy to understand for the reader. Enjoyable memoir to cherish and share in the Joy of the author in her writing and marriage testimony.,

MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW After Pearl is a captivating historical mystery set in 1942, during the turbulent months following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The novel follows Nicholas Bishop, an alcoholic private investigator and shell-shocked WWI veteran, who wakes up in a seedy hotel room with a hangover, a foggy memory, and two bullets missing from his revolver. Worse still, lounge singer Pearl DuGaye is dead, and Bishop is the prime suspect. As he stumbles through a haze of forgotten days, Bishop—assisted by the sharp and capable Gia Alessi, a loyal sidekick who may or may not still be on his payroll—dives into a web of deceit and danger. His investigation leads him through Buffalo’s underworld, rubbing shoulders with crooked politicians, high-society elites, and an underground group of American Nazis. All the while, he’s haunted by flashbacks from the Great War and shadowed by a one-eyed dog named Jake. The pacing is tight and energetic. The mystery unfolds gradually but never drag...
