#BOOK REVIEW #MISS NEWBURY'S LIST BY MEGAN WALKER #SHADOW MOUNTAIN PUBLISHING #REGENCY ROMANCE

MY THOUGHTS AND BOOK REVIEW

This is an adorable regency clean romance novel by Meghan Walker. Miss Rosalind Newbury was brilliant and beautiful when she was engaged to the Duke of Marlow arranged by her parents. Rosalind was making this decision to get married because her family bordered prime farmland that they owned which was one of the Duke's estates. The Duke wanted the land and Rosalind's family desired his title to bolster the family name. Rosalind was wild, free, and full of adventure, and Alice her aunt wanted her to live her life fully first. Rosalind's Aunt encouraged her to create a list of 10 things that she wanted to experience before her wedding. One of the items on her list was to learn how to swim. Lisa her best friend is the only one she trusted with her list. Rosalind went swimming alone in a pond and there she accidentally drowned -almost died, from which she is saved by Charlie Winston, a boxer, Ros's best friend Lisa's cousin who is back in the countryside from London. Mr. Winston helps her out of the pond by saving her life.

She hardly knew the duke and was doubtful that she was going to get married to him and Rosalind was the only one who could bring a title to the family. Rosalind has to choose between her family's expectations of love and her spark with romantic moments with Charles Winston as she completes the items that are dangerous and risky in the list that would make her happy.

I received a complimentary copy to review for my honest opinion. Thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing. This book will warm readers' hearts and I highly recommend it.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

England, 1820

Rosalind Newbury is counting down the days until her wedding to the Duke of Marlow, a man she has only met twice, and she knows exactly how she wants to spend her time. As a child, Ros created a list of ten things to do before her wedding day. So far, she has done none of them.

She is determined to tackle each item, though she’ll have to accomplish them all in secret. After all, a soon-to-be-duchess is not usually allowed to bury treasure in the pasture, eat sweets all day, or learn how to swim. She enlists the help of her best friend, Liza, who brings along her cousin, Charlie, a prodigal son-turned-boxer who has come to the countryside to mend his reputation and learn how to be his father’s heir.

Together, the three of them work to complete the list, and as each item is crossed off, an unlikely friendship blossoms between Ros and Charlie. The more time they spend together, the more Ros falls in love with this imperfect man and his good heart.

With the wedding looming, Ros must decide to either admit her romantic feelings for Charlie and risk her family’s future, or keep her promise to marry the duke and start a new life as a noblewoman.
