MY THOUGHTS AND BOOK REVIEW

"DYING TO BAKE" by author Helen Golden takes her readers into the high setting and plot of the Bake off wars competition a popular television show, hosted by the Francis Court  estate princess and Duke.

The novel opens with the shocking death of Vera Bolt the 66 year old pastry chef known as the Queen of Bakes who had been found dead at the old barn. The intriguing question is to find out who would want to hurt Vera Bolt? Lady Beatrice who is shocked by the murder knew that it didn't happen to look like an accident. The incident of sticking the knife into Vera Bolt by the killer looked more personal than trying to cover up it up.

The main character is Lady Beatrice, the Countess of Rossex who is torn between her promise to DCI Richard Fitzwilliam to stay out of the investigation and her brother Fred's desperate plea to clear his new love interest, Summer York, of suspicion. As Lady Beatrice delves deeper into the case, she must navigate a treacherous maze of secrets and lies, all while trying to safeguard her friendship with Fitzwilliam.

Gripping plot, Engaging characters and the author skillfully weaving her thoughts  into impeccable writing will take the readers to a world filled with twists and turns.

About Helen Golden

Hello. I’m Helen Golden. I write British contemporary cozy whodunnits with a hint of humour. I live in small village in Lincolnshire in the UK with my husband, my step-daughter, her two cats, our two dogs, sometimes my step-son, and our tortoise.

I used to work in senior management, but after my recent job came to a natural end I had the opportunity to follow my dreams and start writing. It's very early in my life as an author, but so far I'm loving it.

It’s crazy busy at our house, so when I’m writing I retreat to our caravan (an impulsive lockdown purchase) which is mostly parked on our drive. When I really need total peace and quiet, I take it to a lovely site about 15 minutes away and hide there until my family runs out of food or clean clothes.

Bake Off Wars is back! Get your aprons on and let the sleuthing begin!

The hugely popular television show is being filmed on site at Francis Court and everyone is buzzing. Everyone, that is, except amateur royal sleuth Lady Beatrice who is more interested in overseeing the refurbishment of her home, The Dower House. Bea’s brother Lord Fred on the other hand seems to be very interested in the filming, and in particular one of the show’s presenters, Summer York. So when much-loved pastry chef and Bake Off Wars judge Vera Bolt is found dead on set, and Summer is the top suspect, Fred begs Bea to investigate. Along with the help of her best friend Perry, his husband Simon, and her cute little terrier, Daisy, can Bea catch the killer without stepping on Detective Chief Inspector Richard Fitzwilliam’s toes and ruin their burgeoning friendship? Or will they fall back into bad habits and stop any hope of them growing closer dead in its tracks?

Another page-turning British cozy whodunnit with a hint of humour that you wouldn’t be able to put down from Helen Golden.
