After being defrauded of her savings by a trusted friend, she faces eviction and a desperate need to return to her former interior design role at an architectural firm. This return is complicated by the presence of her ex-boyfriend, Hunter Ellis, now the head architect, and the fact that their past relationship ended in infidelity. The situation intensifies dramatically when the firm's owner is murdered, and the murder weapon is found at April's doorstep. There is a sudden twist in the initial chapters as the murder takes place. This event thrusts April into the role of prime suspect, making her a target for the real killer.
