THE MAID BY NITA PROSE {BOOK REVIEW}

Molly worked as a maid at the Regency Grand hotel, cleaning up after the wealthy guests and cleaning up their messes. Mr. Snow, Molly's boss, regarded her as the ideal worker bee, toiling and toiling to prepare each honeycomb for the arrival of honey. A maid's job is physically demanding. It's exhausting and mind-numbingly repetitive, but she takes pride in her work and does it well every time. Despite the fact that her work is mostly invisible, they cannot function without her! Mr. Snow reminded his colleagues that without the worker bee, there would be no hive.

In the first few chapters, Mr. Charles Black and his second wife, Giselle Black, are frequent visitors to the Regency Grand. Mr. Black stays - or rather, stayed at the Regency Grand for at least a week every month while he oversaw his red estate affairs in the city. Mr. Black was a tycoon, a magnate, and an impresario. He and Giselle were frequently featured in the gossip columns. He could be described as a middle-aged silver fox, though he is neither silver nor a fox. Meanwhile, Giselle was frequently referred to as "a young little trophy socialite."

Molly thought to herself, "A maid's work is never done." Molly discovers Mr. Black dead in the hotel Regency Grand, lying flat on his back on the bed. As a result, Molly is being questioned by Detective Stark. The majority of the pages are memories of Molly's time with her Granma and Gran's wise advice to her.

Detective Stark discusses Mr. Black's toxicology report with Molly. Mr. Black had drugs in his system, the same drugs that were strewn across the floor of his bedroom on his bedside table. Detective Stark was convinced that it wasn't the pills that killed him. He had quite a bit in his system, but not nearly enough to kill him.
